Vendor Price Book Entries (VPBEs) allow providing vendor-dependent work order templates and service build templates for marketplace-quoted products.
VPBEs are optional and extend regular PBEs to define vendor-specific exceptions.
For example, a PBE for a Hosted Server product may be extended with a special workflow if a server is purchased from OVH:
- A quote with a single new line item Hosted Server is created (at this stage book pricing is used)
- The item is marketplace-quoted and OVH is selected as a vendor (pricing is updated to reflect OVH pricing)
- When an opportunity is closed won and an order is created along with a new service and a work order to deliver the service:
- If a specific VPBE is found (with OVH configured as a Vendor) underneath the regular PBE for the product
- Work order template and service template are used from the VPBE
- Otherwise, PBE templates are used
