Work order task assignment is done by changing task ownership (i.e., the regular Salesforce Owner field). Tasks can be reassigned from multiple locations:
From Task List Views
This method is used to assign a task from departmental task lists or the My Tasks list view. It supports single and bulk task reassignment.
- Go to App Launcher → Work Order Tasks, or access it from the home page or top menu.
- Select the relevant list view (e.g., Engineering, My Tasks, etc.).
- Identify tasks to reassign.
- Click the drop-down on the right side of the task and select Change Owner, or:
- Use the checkboxes on the left to select multiple tasks.
- Click the Change Owner button above the list.
| Important | Task list views are the only option for bulk reassigning tasks across multiple work orders or orders. |
From Task Details
This method is typically used when viewing task details.
- Open task detail view.
- Use either the Change Owner action in the top right, or:

From Work Order Execution Chart
Ownership can also be reassigned from within the work order execution chart:
- Open a work order or any of its tasks, then navigate to the Execution Chart tab.
- Make sure the view is set to Kanban or List mode.

- Confirm by clicking Change Owner.
Using the Assign Action
Nextian provides a custom Assign action that functions like Change Owner, but offers a more user-friendly interface for task reassignment.
