A service template can be created using an existing service as the source. In this case, the resulting template will include elements that mirror those found in the source service.
To generate a service template from an existing service:
- Create a new service template or open an existing one (the template must exist up-front).
- Click the Update From Service action button.
- Select source service to create elements from.
- For each element, choose how it should be imported using the dropdown options:
- New — A new element will be created each time the template is used (e.g., a router provisioned uniquely per customer).
- Existing — The selected element will be reused (e.g., a gateway shared across multiple services).
- Skip – The element (and any child elements) will be excluded from the import.
