Product metadata is a set of fields describing product characteristics and driving the user-interface behavior when creating quote line items.
The following product metadata is available:
Field | Meaning |
---|---|
Location Based | Indicates that the product is location-based (i.e., provided at an address). For location-based products location is required to create a new quote/order line item. |
Term Based | Indicates that the product is a term-based subscription (e.g., virtual server for 12 months with month-to-month renewal). For subscription-based products, term must be selected on quote line items. |
Term Based Part | This applies to product parts only. A Term Based Part means that part has recurring charge dependent on parent service term (this is similar to Term Based Subscription flag for a service) — parts do not have their own term and ‘inherit’ term the main service for pricing. |
Single Quantity | If checked the product quantity on a line item must always be equal to one. |
Service Based | This applies only to Service Request product. If checked, this service request is performed on an existing service (e.g., hardware test on an internet service), otherwise it is a ‘standalone’ request, not tied to any service. This drives behavior of Add New Item action on a quote – if the flag is checked, a service must be selected to perform the service request against. |
Dynamically Priced | Indicates a product with variable (dynamic) pricing (i.e., not known up front when building price books). Dynamic product pricing is sourced from third parties and may be dependent on vendor, service location (such as cloud region) and other factors. Dynamic pricing pertains only to main products not product parts. More information about creating quotes with dynamic pricing is available here. |
