Vendor Price Book Entries

Vendor Price Book Entries (VPBEs) are specialized price book entries (PBEs) that allow providing vendor-dependent work order templates and service build templates for marketplace-quoted products. VPBEs are related to parent PBEs and define vendor-specific exceptions.

To access Vendor Price Book Entries for a specific product, go to:

App LauncherProducts → Select a product → Open Related tab → Scroll down to Price Book Entries section → Select a price book entry → Open Related tab → Scroll down to Vendor Price Book Entries section

Example Use Case

Consider a scenario involving a Hosted Server product where, if the server is purchased from OVH (i.e., OVH is selected as the product vendor), an OVH-specific delivery workflow is used:

  1. A quote is created with a single line item for the Hosted Server product. At this stage, the product’s pricing is pulled from the selected price book and its corresponding price book entry.
  2. The Hosted Server is marketplace-quoted, and OVH is selected as the vendor. Pricing is updated to reflect OVH’s marketplace rate.
  3. When an opportunity is Closed Won, an order is created, along with a new service and a work order to deliver the service:
    • If a matching VPBE exists (i.e., one with OVH configured as the vendor under the parent PBE):
      • The work order template and service template from the VPBE are used.
    • If no VPBE is found:
      • The default templates from the parent PBE are used instead.
