Occasionally, a canceled work order may need to be restarted, e.g., when:
- An order (or a selection of line items) has been cancelled by the customer but, but the decision was later reversed.
- Accidental cancellation by a user.
The following happens when a work order is restarted:
- Completed tasks are not modified (Completed tasks remain Completed after cancellation) — restart operation resumes the work: tasks that have already been completed are not repeated.
- Tasks that were In Progress (this is determined based on their Actual Start Date) become In Progress with the original Actual Start Date (Ready Date is unchanged).
- Tasks that were Ready become ready (their Ready Date is unchanged).
- Tasks that were Pending are restored to Pending.
- As a general rule, no dates are changed on any of the tasks except Completion Action Date which is cleared.
To restart a work order:
- Open work order details.
- Click Restart and confirm operation in the pop-up dialog.
Important | Restart is intended only for system administrators and typically is a part of a larger administrative modification along with changing service statuses, OLIs, order statuses, etc. |
