New Account / Logo Identification

Nextian CPQ provides a New Account / Logo flag (checkbox) to identify whether an opportunity is associated with a brand-new customer—commonly referred to as a “new logo” in quote-to-cash terminology.

Opportunities marked as New Account / Logo are often treated differently, such as receiving larger discounts or higher sales rep commissions.

A brand-new customer is defined as an account with no prior orders or services — regardless of whether those services or orders are currently active.

Both services and orders are considered when determining account history, as orders are often not migrated from previous systems. What matters is the presence of service history, not necessarily how the service was activated.

Important Please note that the New Account / Logo flag is not set at the account level, but rather at the opportunity level.

Identifying New Account / Logo

The identification process for new logo accounts is outlined below:

  1. When an opportunity is created, New Account / Logo is set when no services or orders are present (Total Services and Total Orders on the account are zero).
  2. When a customer order is created, all opportunities different than the one associated with the order being created, clear New Account / Logo (set it to false/unchecked).

Therefore:

  1. For a single new account, all open opportunities have New Account / Logo checked.
  2. The moment one of them is Closed Won and an order is created, all for all other opportunities New Account / Logo is cleared.
  3. The original flag is preserved, so the first closed-won opportunity for an account will always be flagged as New Account / Logo.

New Account / Logo Information Propagation

The flag New Account / Logo flag is propagated as follows:

Quote → Opportunity → Order

This enables for different quoting rules for new accounts, order prioritization and others.

Nextian CPQ also provides New Account / Logo list views for these objects.
