Order Line Items

An order contains a list of Order Line Items (ORIs) that are bound with with their individual work orders and services.

The following applies to ORIs:

  • Order Line Items are named using the ORI-XXXXXXX format.
  • When an order is created from a quote, each ORI is associated with its corresponding quote line item (QLI).
  • For ‘widget’ products (i.e., products that are not subscription services), the service field is not populated.
  • ORIs do not have their own status; they function solely as linkages (order status is derived from the statuses of the associated work orders).
  • Similar to QLIs, ORIs have types (e.g., New, Cancel, Replace, etc.).

The relationship between order, order line items, services and work orders can be visualized as follows:

For ‘widget’ products, the service component of the ORIs in the diagram above is left blank.

Order of line items on an order

  • When an order is created from a quote/opportunity, the order of ORIs follows the order of QLIs on the quote for consistency.
  • For manually created ORIs, the order reflects the sequence in which they were added.
  • Order of ORIs on an order cannot be changed (unlike QLI order on a quote).
  • The Item # in the Order Summary tab is added convenience only, so the ORIs can be easily referenced.
