For new service quotes, the service renewal type determines how the service contract will renew at the end of the initial term.
When adding a new recurring service product to a quote, the default renewal type is pulled from the product catalog’s price book entry (PBE) record for the selected term.
The renewal type can be adjusted in the quote creator as needed. Unlike the service term, changing the renewal type does not affect the end-user price (i.e., is not a pricing dimension).
The renewal type follows this propagation path:
PBE (Price Book Entry) → QLI (Quote Line Item) → Service
- The default value is set on the PBE during product configuration.
- When a QLI is created, the value is copied from the PBE.
- The value can be modified on a quote (this change does not affect pricing).
- When service is created, the QLI value is copied to the newly created service.
