Nextian allows quoting of new products with optional add-ons, such as business Internet with QoS or a hosted SQL Server with 20 seats.
The following applies to add-ons:
- In the Salesforce product catalog, add-ons are stored as product parts (products with the record type Part), following Salesforce conventions.
- In the user interface (e.g., when creating a quote or in service details), they are referred to as add-ons to better align with cloud and communications service terminology.
- Add-ons do not have their own term, requested dates, or work order templates; these are inherited from their parent products.
- A Term Based Part means that part has recurring charge dependent on parent service term (this is similar to Term Based Subscription product definition flag for a service) — parts do not have their own term and ‘inherit’ term the main service for pricing.
- Only Term-Based Parts support recurring charges; otherwise, only non-recurring charges are allowed.
