Disabling SNMP Service on Windows

When the Nextian SNMP Agent Simulator is configured to simulate agents on the standard SNMP UDP port (161), it cannot operate concurrently with the built-in Windows SNMP Service.

To avoid this conflict, the Windows SNMP service must be disabled.

Important The following configuration steps require administrative privileges.

Follow these steps to disable the Windows SNMP service:

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Administrative Tools and select Services.
  3. Locate and double-click SNMP Service to open its properties.
  4. Set the Startup type to Disabled, then click OK.
  5. If the service is currently running, click Stop to stop it.
