Modifying Agent Responses

If multiple devices are simulated based on the same SNMP record file, each device will return identical SNMP responses. Differentiating responses is possible through modifiers. Nextian SNMP Simulator supports two types of modifiers:

    • Load-time modifier – object value is modified upon simulator start after SNMP record files have been loaded. This modifier generates constant value, unchanged for every object read operation.
    • Run-time modifier – object value is modified on every object read operation. The value returned will be vary upon each read. This modifier can be used to simulate performance counters or other objects representing changing metrics.
