Supplemental Order

- Last Modification Date April 7, 2026
A Supplemental Order is an additional, amendment order created to modify or extend an existing in-progress order without altering the original order record (see Order Supping).
Supplemental orders capture incremental changes while preserving the integrity of the original order, enabling clear tracking and auditability throughout the delivery process.
It is typically used in complex delivery scenarios (e.g., telecommunications) where changes arise after the original order has been submitted.
Examples
- Adding new components (e.g., IP address block, additional service features)
- Updating technical parameters (e.g., location, bandwidth, configuration)
- Reflecting changes due to construction or serviceability constraints
Considerations
- Supplemental orders are usually linked to the original (“parent”) order and processed as part of the same delivery workflow.
- They provide an alternative to editing the original order directly (“in-place” order update model), which is often restricted once fulfillment has started.
- Common in telecom and other industries with long, multi-step provisioning processes.
